About Sullivan County natural gas advocates…

“This is left-wing environmental McCarthyism at its worst,” said long-time upper Delaware Activist Noel van Swol, president of the Sullivan Delaware Property Owners Association, which he claims, represents “70,000 acres of prime land, of people who want natural gas leases, best possible terms and the best environmental protections”.

“The Catskill Citizens concern about non-existent conflicts of interest is a sham and a fraud and should be ignored by the county legislature.”
That was a reference to comments last week from Bruce Ferguson, of the Catskill Citizens for Safe Energy, a group van Swol, and others, they allege, uses money funneled from federal grants to advocate public policy, which is similar to what Ferguson suggested the Sullivan County Partnership was doing.

Cuomo’s Flawed Vision of Natural Gas in NY

The most significant problem in Cuomo’s plan is that it continues the discussion of drilling for natural gas near New York City’s water supply. To be sure, the policy is that “any drilling in the Marcellus Shale must be environmentally sensitive and safe.” The problem is that under current technology no drilling can guarantee that our water supply would not be threatened.
